Paris!!! Where's the Eiffel Tower?

10 years later! We're on the road again! Half the Banjara team with baby Banjara in tow, and mom. Hoping daddy Banjara can join us to celebrate a decade since our big journey and the countless glorious experiences in between. Yes, life happened. But this month away was totally unforeseen, unplanned and truly in keeping with all that is Banjara! So cheers to us! Cheers to being back on the move! This is what I live for!
Paris!!! Is there a better place to start! The genes are right on the money. A few minutes into our Parisian pad, BB declares that he wants to live here forever. The apple doesn't fall far! Beware, we may never return!

"Where's the Eiffel Tower?" yelled BB impatiently as we descended into CDG yesterday afternoon. Nowhere close. Three hours of lugging what I was priding as "light luggage" in the intense July heat, through the bi-directional (up and down) staircases of the Parisian metro drove home the realization that a decade has indeed passed. My shoulders are not so strong any more! Hopped off at La Muette. Outside, a very helpful young girl google mapped directions to our apartment. Our airbnb hostess met us promptly outside rue des Vignes, armed with Perrier and a bottle Bordeaux red. Bienvenue a Paris!

Took BB less than 10 mins to bust out his iPad, connect to wifi, snap quick pics and mass blast them off to friends and family. A decade has passed indeed! Technology has advanced by a century. In less than 5 mins, we had facetimed with daddy B and shared our news of arrival with the world. Internet cafes, downloading pics onto hard drives, calling folks once in few weeks - so ten years ago! And here I am blogging with my phone.

Eiffel Tower was still top on BB's mind. But first we stopped off at the local grocery for some staples. After twenty minutes of strolling towards Trocadero square, BB started getting into the "are we there yet" space. The whine was caught in a spasm of utter disbelief as we turned the corner into Trocadero square in full view of the magnificent tour Eiffel. BB was blown away! I was blown away! It appeared more amazing than I ever remembered it to be. It was the Taj Mahal effect all over again!
We giggled loudly together, squealed with delight, and skipped towards the massive tower unable to believe that we were truly here! BB says it looked much bigger than he had ever imagined! He wanted to know if he was dreaming, if this was a fake tower or if it was truly here.
Then then lights came on. The Eiffel Tower went off into a frenzy of sparkles in the twilight. I missed daddy B so acutely and wondered if I would stil feel the romance of this city sans him. Just then we walked into a Milonga! Couples engaged in a sensual tango spinning anti-clockwise under the twilight blessing of the sparkling tower! I remembered our ochos! And I knew that life had brought me back to the infinity of number eight. The endless travel loop. And that daddy B is right here with us in spirit!
